How We Began
Born from a question:
what if women built
everything?
Kingdom of Daughters began with a realisation. Designer Anissa Mpungwe looked at the fashion industry and saw that a few brands have built truly for women, by women. Not just in design, but in vision, strategy, finance, operations, and execution. What is the most powerful garment a woman has ever worn?
The answer, across cultures, kept returning to the same thing. The skirt. Worn in protest, passed from mother to daughter, and carried into boardrooms, battlefields, and ceremonies around the world. So she gathered four other women; each a leader in her own right and they built something Africa has never seen: a brand devoted entirely to it. Skirts.

The Garment
The skirt is the language.
Every other garment tells you what you're doing. A blazer says formal. A swimsuit says beach. A tracksuit says movement. A skirt says everything at once. It is the only garment that moves from the boardroom to the ceremony, the market to the gallery, the protest to the celebration, without changing its meaning.
That is why we built an entire brand around it because it contains multitudes. Our skirts come in three hem lengths, each with its own statement.

Our standard range runs from XS through 4XL. If your measurements fall outside our ready-to-wear range, in either direction, we offer fully custom sizing at an additional premium. You send us your measurements. We make your skirt. Because the whole point of Kingdom of Daughters is that there is no size at which a woman stops deserving a beautiful skirt.
